Trump’s tariffs challenged in US court
The Supreme Court of America is hearing the issue of reciprocal tariffs imposed by the Trump administration. The apex court may soon give its verdict in this matter. The court will rule on whether the President has the authority to impose tariffs under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA). Both the US Court of International Trade (CIT) and the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals have ruled these tariffs unlawful. If the Supreme Court upholds this decision, importers who have paid tariffs under IEEPA may be entitled to receive refunds.
Trump imposed 50 percent tariff on India
Relations between America and India went through a very bad phase in the year 2025. Actually, Trump had first announced 25 percent tariff on Indian products and later increased it to 50 percent due to buying Russian oil. Trump’s anger repeatedly came out in public, in which he kept saying that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is his friend, but India is working as a war machine for Russia. The oil that India is buying from Russia is being used in the ongoing war with Russia and Ukraine.
Trump’s attitude softens in front of India
Seeing PM Narendra Modi’s displeasure after the tariff, Trump’s attitude softened. There were also reports that Trump had tried to talk to PM Modi on phone, but he did not talk. Meanwhile, PM Modi himself reached the SCO summit to be held in Tianjin, China. During this time, Russian President Vladimir Putin also came there and after seeing the tripod of the three leaders, lines of concern appeared on America’s forehead. After this, Trump appointed Sergio Gore as his representative in India and the Middle East, after which the talks regarding trade deal between the two countries came back on track.
