Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced Liton Das-led 15-member squad for next month’s T20 World Cup and the announcement came just hours after the country’s Sports Ministry directed the team to shift its league matches from India to Sri Lanka.
The BCB has been asked by its Sports Ministry to seek shifting of the team’s T20 World Cup league matches from India to Sri Lanka as concerns are being raised over the safety of the players after Mustafizur Rahman was dropped from the Indian Premier League (IPL) on the instructions of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Of Bangladesh’s four league matches, three are against West Indies (February 7), Italy (February 9), England (February 14) in Kolkata while their last match will be against Nepal (February 17) in Mumbai.
The T20 World Cup will be jointly organized by India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8.
Das remains the captain while fast bowler Taskin Ahmed has returned to the team after being out of the recent Ireland series. Ahmed will team up with Rahman in the fast bowling department who has been included in the team as expected.
