The search for the murderer going on at the international level in the case of murder of a woman in America has finally ended in Tamil Nadu, India. Interpol police has arrested Arjun Sharma from here. Accused Arjun faces serious allegations of murdering Nikita Godishla in America and fleeing to India soon after.
27 year old Nikita Rao lived in Maryland, Godishla. Nikita of Indian origin was a data analyst. She suddenly collapsed on January 2. Her ex-boyfriend Arjun Sharma had contacted Howard County Police and claimed to meet Nikita on New Year’s Eve i.e. December 31. With this claim the police became suspicious of him. Police confirmed that Arjun had taken a flight to India on the same day. He filed a missing complaint and left America.
Where was Nikita’s body recovered from?
When the police started searching for Nikita in the whole matter, first of all they searched Arjun Sharma’s apartment on the basis of search warrant. On January 3, Nikita’s body was recovered from inside the apartment.
What did the police tell about the entire incident?
Police said that there were several knife wounds on Nikita’s body. This was a kind of violent attack. Hawart County Police issued arrest warrants against Sharma on charges of first degree and second degree murder. At present, investigation is going on as to why the murder took place. Godishla was working as a data and strategy analyst at Veda Health since February 2025. He also recently received the All In Award from the company. She lived alone in Ellicott City, Maryland.
How did the arrest happen?
To arrest Arjun, US federal agencies contacted Indian police officials in connection with his leaving the US and going to India. Interpol police arrested him from Tamil Nadu after continuous surveillance and sharing of information between agencies.
Now Arjun will be extradited soon. The Indian Embassy in America has said that we are in touch with Nikita’s family. Counseling assistance is being provided. The embassy is also following up the matter with local authorities.
