A source close to the matter said that both Wilson and the Tata Group are not interested in renewing the contract after 2027, so it is natural to search for suitable candidates in the market for the top post of Air India. Although there was no official comment from the Tata Group in response to PTI’s queries on this subject, sources said that the process of selecting the new chief could take at least three to six months.

He also indicated that if the current and incoming chiefs work together for some time, the process of leadership transition may go more smoothly. Meanwhile, the final report on the Boeing 787-8 plane crash involving Air India is expected around June.
