Virat Kohli Vijay Hazare Trophy Update: Following the instructions of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Virat Kohli, who played in the first two matches of Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26, performed brilliantly with his bat. Playing for Delhi, Virat scored a century in the first match and a half-century in the second match. After this, DDCA President Rohan Jaitley said that before the ODI series between India and New Zealand, Virat will play one more match in the current season of Vijay Hazare Trophy, which will be played against Railways on Tuesday i.e. January 6, 2026. However, now Delhi coach has confirmed that Kohli will not play in the match against Railways. That means Virat will now be seen directly on the field in the ODI matches against New Zealand.
Virat performed brilliantly in both the matches
Virat Kohli’s decision not to play for Delhi in the Vijay Hazare Trophy has been taken at the last moment. This match will be played today i.e. on 6th January in Bengaluru. As per the instructions of BCCI, Virat has already played two matches for Delhi in this tournament. He played matches against Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat, in which he scored a brilliant century of 131 runs in the first match and scored 77 runs in the second match. Thanks to these brilliant innings, Delhi had registered two consecutive wins.
Delhi coach said on Virat not playing
Delhi coach Sarandeep Singh while talking to Hindustan Times said, ‘No, he (Virat) is not available for this match.’ According to BCCI instructions, players with central contracts are required to play at least two Vijay Hazare Trophy matches, which Virat has already completed. However, DDCA President Rohan Jaitley had said last week that Kohli will play in the match against Railways. Virat looked in excellent form in his two matches for Delhi. During these innings, he achieved another big achievement and became the fastest player to complete 16000 List-A runs. He achieved this milestone in his 330th innings and broke the record of Sachin Tendulkar, who had achieved this figure in 391 innings.
