In the digital age, as much as online food delivery has become a convenience, it is also becoming the reason for strange incidents. A surprising case has come to light from China’s capital Beijing, which has sparked debate on social media. The case pertains to a 7-year-old child, whose theft of neighbour’s food proved so costly that he had to be admitted to the hospital. The reason was a plate of very spicy food, which the child ate without asking.
The child had to pay a heavy price for stealing food.
According to Chinese media reports, food delivery orders kept outside the house of a family living in Beijing were continuously being stolen. After the food went missing several times, the family decided to teach the thief a lesson. For this he deliberately ordered a very spicy and chilli-filled food. They had no idea that the thief of their food was not a big criminal, but an innocent 7-year-old child living in the neighborhood. It was told that the child often played outside and he liked the taste of the food ordered by the neighbors so much that he used to pick up the bag whenever he got a chance.
Neighbors deliberately ordered spicy food to teach a lesson
Like every day, this time too the child picked up the food delivery bag, took it home and ate the entire meal. But this time the story changed. Shortly after eating food, the child started having severe stomach pain and vomiting. Seeing his condition worsening, his parents immediately took him to the hospital. After examination, the doctors said that the child had acute gastroenteritis. When his condition became serious, he was kept hospitalized for several days.
The child’s family demanded compensation
When the child’s parents came to know that he had eaten the neighbor’s very spicy food, they made serious allegations against the neighbors. He said the food was ordered to be so spicy to deliberately harm the child and demanded compensation for the nearly 2,000 yuan spent on the child’s treatment. However, the neighbors facing the allegations clearly denied it. He said that the food was his, it was the child who stole it and it was not his fault.

Social media divided into two opinions
As soon as this matter came to light, the debate intensified on social media. Some people are sympathizing with the child, while many users say that stealing someone’s food without permission is wrong and it was necessary to learn a lesson. Overall, this case also teaches a lesson that in this era of food delivery, caution is necessary and it is equally important to give children an understanding of right and wrong.
