Claim of a leader close to the Congress high command – ‘The name of the entire house was not in UP SIR, all the documents were given’

After the release of the draft list of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter list in Uttar Pradesh, Congress leader Gurdeep Singh Sappal on Tuesday claimed that his and his family members’ names are missing from the SIR, even though they have all the documents and their names were also in the 2003 voter list. The permanent invitee member of the Congress Working Committee said that his name was struck off only on the ground that he had transferred his name from Sahibabad assembly constituency to Noida assembly constituency.

Gurdeep Singh Sappal posted on ‘X’, “SIR draft list of Uttar Pradesh has been published. My and my family’s names are missing in this, while our names were included in the voter list of 2003, our names were also included in the voter list of the last election and the names of our parents were also included in the voter list of 2003.” He says, ”We had also submitted the necessary documents as per the rules of the Election Commission. We have passport, birth certificate, Aadhaar, bank account, property documents, 10th class certificate, everything.

I am a member of the Supreme Committee of Congress- Gurdeep Singh Sappal

Gurdeep Singh Sappal said, “I myself was the Vice President of India (Hamid Ansari) and also joint secretary in the Rajya Sabha Secretariat. Also, I am a member of the Supreme Committee (Working Committee) of the Congress.

The Congress leader said, “Not only this, I have also been a part of the Congress delegation in the Election Commission many times on SIR and other issues and the BLO also knows this.” But still our names were cut from the draft list.” He claimed, ”The reason is that we had shifted our home from Sahibabad Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh to Noida Legislative Assembly. We were told that there is no provision to retain the names of voters transferred to SIR.

This is the truth of SIR – Congress leader Sappal

According to Sappal, if a voter has changed his residence to a new area, his name has been struck off. He said, “There are crores of genuine voters like me. I will probably still fill the new Form 6 and get my names added, but how many people will be able to do so? This is the truth of SIR.
