It is extremely cold in most parts of the country. Due to snowfall in the hilly areas, the temperature in the plains is also falling. There is a possibility of dense fog in the morning in parts of North-Eastern India for the next 5 to 7 days. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), today (7 January) there is a possibility of cold wave in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Odisha, Delhi, Western Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh.
People in the capital Delhi and surrounding areas have got relief from fog, but cold and humidity persist. Despite sunshine during the day on Tuesday, the coldness did not subside. An increase in maximum temperature has been recorded in Delhi NCR during the last 24 hours due to sunshine. The Meteorological Department estimates that Delhi will witness severe cold for the next 2 days. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 15 degrees while the minimum temperature is expected to be around 6 degrees.

It is extremely cold in Uttar Pradesh. Due to western disturbance, westerly winds have dropped the mercury in the state. The temperature has reached 2.6 degrees in many districts. On Tuesday morning, there was dense fog in a total of 40 districts including Kanpur, Barabanki, Gonda, Bahraich. Today also there is an alert of heavy fog on Wednesday. At many places, visibility has reached zero due to fog. There is a warning of fog in most of the districts of Eastern and Western Uttar Pradesh in the morning. At some places visibility can range from zero to 100 meters. Due to western disturbance, the wind speed will be 10-15 km per hour, due to which the cold will be felt even more.
Chances of cold day in Bihar
There is severe cold in many districts of Bihar. According to the Meteorological Department, cold day conditions may prevail in districts like Patna, Muzaffarpur, Samastipur, Saharsa and Gaya till January 10. There doesn’t seem to be any respite from the cold in Bihar right now.
Uttarakhand weather
The weather remains dry in most areas of Uttarakhand. Light snowfall is being seen in Kedarnath and other high altitude areas. Fog continues in the plains. A yellow alert has been issued regarding frost in the mountains and dense fog in the plains for the next few days.
