It doesn’t always happen that two Pan India superstars come together on a big festival to create a blast at the box office. But Prabhas has made it a habit. After the clash between Prabhas’s ‘Salaar’ and Shahrukh Khan’s ‘Dinky’ in 2023, now his latest upcoming film ‘The Raja Saheb’ will clash with Thalapathy Vijay’s last film ‘Jana Nayakan’ on the big screen. Although both the films are from different languages and industries, due to the similarity in release dates and massive releases, they will clash on the same screens and in many cases for the same audience. With this, let us know which of these can outweigh whom on the first day?
,Jan Nayakan’ How many crores can it open with?,
Vijay’s films mostly perform well in Tamil Nadu, but also get some support from Telugu states, Kerala and Karnataka. The business of his films outside South India remains limited. But the craze of his films in the South is so high that his first day collections often surpass the collections of even the biggest Pan India films. His last two films ‘Leo’ and GOAT had opened with more than Rs 100 crores worldwide. If we look at the current trend, ‘Jana Nayakan’ is also following the same path.
The film is expected to earn Rs 100 to 110 crore worldwide on the first day. However, it is disappointing for Vijay, his film Leo had a great opening of Rs 126 crores. Whereas in India, ‘Jana Nayakan’ is expected to earn Rs 45-48 crore on the first day. This is less than his two previous films Leo (64 crores) and GOAT (48 crores).
,The Raja Saab’ How is the box office prediction?
On the other hand, Prabhas has given good opening at Pan India level for all his films after Baahubali. The Hindi dubbed versions of his films have regularly grossed more than Rs 15 crore nett in India, giving his films much bigger openings nationally and internationally. For example, despite the challenge of Dinky, Salaar opened to Rs 158 crores worldwide and Kalki 2898 AD went even further and opened to Rs 175 crores worldwide.
However, ‘The Raja Saheb’ is not a large-scale action film, so it is expected to earn less on the first day compared to some of the other films that came after Prabhas’ ‘Baahubali’. According to current estimates, the film may open at Rs 130-145 crore worldwide, which is a huge amount and is definitely more than the earnings of ‘Jana Nayakan’. In India too, Prabhas is expected to continue his dominance once again and the film can make a net opening of Rs 85 to Rs 90 crore, which includes the earning of more than Rs 25 crore from the dubbed version alone.
superstarse Who will win in the competition?
‘The Raja Saheb’, starring Sanjay Dutt and Boman Irani, popular names among the Hindi audience, is expected to open at Rs 18-20 crore in Hindi alone. On the other hand, ‘Jana Nayakan’ may struggle to earn more than Rs 1 crore in Hindi on the first day. But the competition is very close in the mother tongues of the stars. Both Jana Nayakan and The Raja Saheb are expected to have an opening of Rs 40 crore in Tamil and Telugu.
Clearly, considering Prabhas’s popularity in Hindi speaking areas thanks to films like Baahubali and Kalki 2898 AD, he can defeat Vijay in this contest. Being Vijay’s last film, Jan Nayakan should have ideally got a bigger opening than Leo. But it seems that the clash with The Raja Saheb and the growing discussion of Sivakarthikeyan’s attachment has dulled its shine.
