This case dates back to the year 1991, when Manco Victor ‘Peck’ van Andel, a scientist from the Netherlands, wanted to do in-depth research on the human body. His friend Aida Sabelis and his partner Jupp helped him in this experiment. The aim was to see what changes happen inside the body during close moments. Everything happened completely in the name of research and under scientific supervision. Then it was decided that the couple would go into the MRI machine, establish a relationship and by observing the changes in their body through technology, research would be started.
The biggest challenge was to fit in a small space.
The thing to note is that the MRI machines of that era were not as comfortable as they are today. There was very little space, so the commonly imagined situation was not possible. In such a situation, both of them adopted a comfortable posture of lying on one side. During the entire process, instructions were received from the control room, sometimes it was said to remain in the same position for some time, so that the pictures could be clear.

The results of this experiment were later published in the British Medical Journal in 1999. The pictures and findings became very popular in the medical world and proved helpful in understanding women’s bodies better. Years later, Aida Sabelis recalled the experience in a podcast, calling it “funny but memorable.” According to Aida, initially everything did not go as per plan. The biggest challenge was to fit inside the machine. He laughingly told that when he realized that the plan decided would not work, he had to immediately change the method.
