Immune Response Explained: Our immune system is a strong defense system of the body, which protects us from germs that cause infection. Many organs, cells and proteins work together in this. Whenever any bacteria, virus or fungus enters the body, the immune system fights and destroys it. The special thing is that the immune system also remembers those germs which it has defeated earlier. This work is done by some special white blood cells, which are called memory cells. For this reason, if the same germs come into the body again, the immune system quickly identifies and destroys them, thus preventing us from getting sick.
However, this does not happen in every disease. Like cold and flu. These happen again and again because there are many types of viruses. Having a cold or flu once does not create immunity against other viruses, so a person suffers from them many times.
Main parts of the immune system

white blood cells
White blood cells are the most important strength of our immune system. These are formed in the bone marrow and are part of the lymphatic system. These cells circulate through the blood and tissues throughout the body and search for foreign germs such as bacteria, viruses, parasites and fungi. As soon as they find any germ, they immediately attack it. White blood cells include lymphocytes, such as B-cells, T-cells, and natural killer cells, as well as many other cells of the immune system.
antibodies
Antibodies help the body fight germs and the toxic elements they create. They recognize special elements present on the surface of germs, which are called antigens. Antibodies mark these antigens as foreign, so that the immune system can destroy them. Many types of cells, proteins and chemicals work together in this entire process.
complement system
Complement system is a group of proteins, which makes the work of antibodies more effective. This system accelerates the process of eliminating germs with the help of antibodies.
lymphatic system
The lymphatic system is a network of thin vessels spread throughout the body. Its function is to maintain the balance of fluids in the body, react to bacteria, fight cancer cells and remove waste substances that can cause disease. Apart from this, it also helps in absorbing some fat from the intestines into the body. The lymphatic system consists of lymph nodes, which trap germs, lymph vessels that carry a fluid called lymph, and white blood cells.
spleen
Spleen is an organ that cleans the blood. It removes germs from the body and destroys old or damaged red blood cells. Along with this, it also produces antibodies and lymphocytes necessary for the immune system.
bone marrow
Bone marrow is the soft tissue present inside the bones. It is here that red blood cells are formed, which deliver oxygen to the body. White blood cells are also made from this place, which fight infections, and platelets are also made here, which help in blood clotting.
thymus
The thymus gland works to monitor and filter the blood. It produces a special type of white blood cells, which are called T-lymphocytes. These cells play an important role in strengthening the immune system.
