‘CM snatched evidence from his hands during I-PAC raid, this has not happened till date’, BJP demands arrest of Mamata Banerjee

ED on Thursday conducted a search operation in the office of I-PACK in Kolkata in the coal scam case. During this time, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has been accused of influencing the ED investigation and tampering with evidence, which has given rise to a new political controversy. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded the arrest of Mamata Banerjee in this case.

In Purulia, West Bengal, BJP leader Rahul Sinha accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of influencing the ED investigation after the raid on the I-PACK office in Kolkata and demanded her immediate arrest.

Mamata Banerjee and her nephews are going to be trapped: BJP

He said that earlier also in the coal scam, there were raids on the houses of TMC leaders, the Chief Minister did not even look in that direction, but during the raid in the office of I-PAC, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee intervened and tried to influence the investigation because Mamata Banerjee and her nephew Abhishek Banerjee are going to be implicated in this case.

West Bengal BJP President and MP Samik Bhattacharya, on the ED raid on the I-PAC office, said that a raid is being conducted by a government organization, the Chief Minister reaching the same place and snatching the evidence from his hands, this has never happened anywhere in India till date.

Interference in government work, evidence also snatched: Bhattacharya

The BJP leader said that a person holding a constitutional post is not only interfering in government work but is also snatching evidence. Who do they want to save? He wants to save people involved in Hawala cases and scams. The society does not expect this from any Chief Minister. Today is a dark day for West Bengal. He said that the people of West Bengal have decided that they will destroy TMC in the upcoming assembly elections.

If investigation was needed then why raid was not done earlier: TMC

At the same time, TMC leader Kunal Ghosh said that BJP is accused of misusing ED. If there was really a need for investigation in any case then why was nothing done earlier? Now that elections are approaching and IPAC is taking advice from us on election campaign related matters, all our election campaign planning is with I-PAC.

Mamta Banerjee took documents with herself: ED

Let us tell you that ED alleges that during the search operation conducted by the agency on Thursday, Mamata Banerjee entered the residential premises of Prateek Jain and took important evidence including physical documents and electronic devices with herself.

The Chief Minister’s convoy then proceeded towards the office premises of I-PAC, from where Mamata Banerjee, her associates and state police personnel forcibly removed physical documents and electronic evidence. The above action has resulted in obstruction of the ongoing investigation under PMLA.
