Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released important information for the youth who are dreaming of becoming officers in the defense services of the country. UPSC has declared the exam dates of Combined Defense Services Examination i.e. CDS-I, 2026. For the candidates who have applied for this exam, now is the time to finalize the preparation. According to the notice issued by the Commission, the CDS-I, 2026 examination will be conducted on 12 April 2026.

Like every year, this time also officers will be recruited in the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force through CDS examination. This examination is considered a golden opportunity for the youth to serve the country. After the date of examination was revealed, the excitement regarding preparation among the candidates has increased. Many candidates are now deciding their study strategy afresh.

Exam will be held in three shifts

UPSC has made it clear that the CDS-I, 2026 examination will be conducted in three different shifts on a single day. This examination will be held on Sunday, April 12, 2026, so that more and more candidates can appear in the examination without any hassle. The examination will be completely written and all the papers will be conducted on time.

The first paper will be of English, which will run from 9 am to 11 am. In this paper, candidates’ understanding of English language, vocabulary and grammar will be tested. The second paper will be of General Knowledge, which will be held from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm. In this, questions related to history, geography, politics, science and current affairs will be asked. The third and last paper will be of Elementary Mathematics, which will run from 4 pm to 6 pm. This paper will include basic questions of mathematics.

For this, first of all you have to go to the home page of the website. There you have to go to the “What’s New” section and click on the link “Examination Time Table: Combined Defense Services Examination (I), 2026”. As soon as you click on the link, the complete time table of the examination will open on the screen. Candidates can read it carefully and download it and also take a print out for future reference.

Recruitment will be done on total 451 posts

A total of 451 posts will be filled through this recruitment process. In these, posts have been fixed for different defense academies. 100 posts have been kept for Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun. There will be recruitment on 26 posts in Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala. 32 posts have been earmarked for Air Force Academy (AFA), Hyderabad. The maximum number of posts are for Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai, where candidates will be selected for 293 posts.
