Amid the ongoing protests in Iran, US President Donald Trump said on Sunday (January 11) that America is ready to help Iran gain independence from the government led by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In a post on Truth Social, Trump said that Iran is probably looking towards independence and said that the US is ready to help.
According to reports, the Trump administration is making preliminary plans for a possible attack on Iran. The New York Post quoted the Wall Street Journal as saying that officials are discussing ways to respond to Trump’s recent threats against Iran. One of the options under consideration is to launch massive air strikes targeting several Iranian military targets.
Trump has threatened Iran before too
Trump warned Iran not to continue killing protesters. On Friday, he warned Iranian officials not to open fire, saying that if they did so, the US would retaliate. His comments come after growing concern in Washington over Iran’s handling of nationwide protests.
America has attacked Iran
Let us tell you that America has attacked Iran before also. In June, the US military dropped at least six bunker-busting bombs on three sites, including the Fordow Nuclear Enrichment Plant. This plant is located deep underground, about 300 feet below a mountain. Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei strongly criticized America and President Trump. He accused Trump’s hands of being stained with the blood of Iranians and said that the American President should pay attention to the problems of his country.
Authorities in Iran have intensified action against the protests taking place across the country. At least 65 people have died so far. Authorities have warned that anyone helping protesters will be considered an enemy of God, punishable by death.
