When we plan to travel, we often remember to fill our bags with gadgets like clothes, shoes, cameras and mobiles. But many people forget one important thing. He has to take care of his stomach and food and drink. Small carelessness can lead to stomach upset and problems like diarrhoea, which can spoil the fun of your entire trip.

Diarrhea while travelling, i.e. Traveler Diarrhoea, is the most common health problem among travelers. This happens especially in those places where water is not clean or food hygiene is not taken care of, contaminated water, dirty food and bacteria are the main reasons for this. In such a situation, if you are going travelling, then definitely keep a gut care kit in your bag, otherwise the fun of the trip will be spoiled.

Easy ways to avoid stomach problems while traveling

1. Clean water and food – The first and easiest way is to consume clean water and food while traveling. Therefore always drink bottled water. Use the same water for brushing teeth also. Avoid eating snow anywhere unless it is completely clean. Always eat fresh and hot food. Avoid buffets or food kept outside for long periods of time. If you have doubts about the cleanliness of any food item, eat it after peeling it, or boil it, or leave it aside.

2. Which foods should you stay away from? While travelling, raw vegetables and salads, unpeeled fruits, undercooked meat or sea food, eggs and unpasteurized dairy products, street food found on the streets can often cause stomach problems. If you eat it, make sure it is freshly cooked. Stay away from restaurants that have flies or do not take care of cleanliness.

3. Do not let there be lack of water in the body – During traveler’s diarrhea, fluids leave the body rapidly, so it is very important to avoid dehydration. Always carry ORS (Oral Rehydration Salts) with you and take it in case of diarrhea. Drinking bottled water, boiled tea or coffee is a safe option. Avoid swallowing water while swimming. If clean water is not available then drink it only after boiling or filtering it.

If you are going travelling, then definitely keep this gut care kit in your bag.

If your stomach gets upset during the journey, do not lose your appetite. Take light and simple diet like plain rice. Stay away from toast and crackers, bananas, boiled or plain potatoes, bad habits like oily food, alcohol and milk. Also always keep a small gut care travel kit with you. This should include medicines like ORS packets, antacids, loperamide and probiotics. Before going on a trip, especially in case of traveling abroad, definitely consult your doctor.
