Nitin Nabin’s claim is the strongest
News agency ANI has informed from party sources that Nitin Nabin’s name is at the forefront in the race for president. If Nitin is made the national president, he will be the youngest to reach this post. His tenure will last till January 2029. Due to proposed Lok Sabha elections in 2029, his tenure may be extended.
Earlier in 2020, JP Nadda was also made the acting president. After this he was made the permanent president.
Nitin became MLA for 5 consecutive times
On 15 December 2025, Nitin Nabin was made the working president of BJP. But due to Kharmas, assuming charge was delayed. 45 year old Nitin Nabin is the Road Construction Minister in Bihar Government. His father Naveen Kishore Sinha was a big leader of BJP. Nitin became MLA from Bankipur seat consecutively in 2006, 2010, 2015, 2020 and 2025.
Final stage of internal elections in 29 states
According to sources, the process of BJP organizational elections has been completed in more than half of the states ruled by the party. Internal elections have been finalized in 29 out of 37 states. BJP state presidents of these states will submit a set of nomination papers in support of Nitin Nabin for the post of national president. Apart from this, BJP National Council members will also file nomination in a separate set in favor of Nitin Nabin.
How is BJP National President elected?
According to Section 19 of the Constitution and Rules of BJP, the electoral college is formed by the members of the National and State Council. This college elects the national president. Elections are held according to the rules made under the executive committee of the party. There are two conditions for contesting the election of the President-
- It is necessary to be a primary member of the party for at least 15 years.
- At least 20 members of the Electoral College must be proposers.
After this, the process of election of the President-
- Enrollment form has to be filled.
- Voting takes place after nomination.
- Counting of ballot boxes takes place in Delhi.
- A new president is elected.
According to the constitution and rules of BJP, an eligible member can remain president for two consecutive terms of 3 years each.
