‘Keep protesting, help is on the way’, Russia got angry when Donald Trump provoked protesters in Iran, issued warning

After US President Donald Trump’s statement amid the ongoing protests against Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in Iran, the fire of another war has started burning in the Middle East. Trump openly supported the protesters on Tuesday (January 13, 2026). He said, Iranian patriots, continue to protest, occupy your institutions. Help is on the way. Russia condemned Trump for external interference in Iran’s internal politics.

Russia issued a stern warning to America, saying that threats of new military attacks on Iran are completely unacceptable. The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the US should be aware of the current situation in the Middle East and its devastating consequences for global international security.

Russia’s Foreign Ministry said, ‘Those who are planning to incite unrest as a pretext to repeat the attack against Iran in June 2025 should be aware of the disastrous consequences of such actions for the situation in the Middle East and global international security.’

There have been reports of deaths of about 2,000 people in the crackdown following anti-government protests in Iran. Meanwhile, Trump said that he has canceled all talks with Iranian officials until the killings of protesters stop. However, the US President did not clarify what the exact meaning of ‘help is on the way’ is. His statement indicates deepening tension between America and Iran.

Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Ali Larijani, has said that Tehran has declared Trump and Netanyahu as the main murderers of the people of Iran. Larijani’s post came just minutes after Trump’s supportive post calling on Iranian protesters to occupy institutions.

Authorities in Iran eased some restrictions on Tuesday (13 January 2026), allowing residents there to make international phone calls via mobile networks for the first time in several days. However, authorities did not restore internet and text messaging services.

White House Press Secretary Carolyn Leavitt said on January 12 that airstrikes on Iran were one of several options that President Trump was considering. However, he also said that diplomacy is always the first option.

Iran’s Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh said that if America attacks, Tehran will give a befitting reply. He said, ‘We will respond strongly to any kind of attack and will not allow anyone to be intimidated. All US bases in the region and countries that support Washington’s actions will be legitimate targets for us. Thanks to the steps we have taken, our defense position is better than in the last war.
