US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday (January 13, 2026) that America is working in very good coordination with Venezuelan authorities, because millions of barrels of crude oil are being sent from Caracas to American refineries. This statement of Trump is being seen as a major and historic change in US-Venezuela relations.
Speaking at the Detroit Economic Club, Trump claimed that his government is working directly with Venezuela and that large quantities of Venezuelan oil has already started reaching the US. He said that this step will affect not only America but also global energy markets and this will lead to further decline in oil prices.
I am Venezuela’s biggest supporter: Trump
During his address, Donald Trump showed a very positive attitude towards Venezuela. He said, ‘I am the biggest supporter of Venezuela. We are working with them. Referring to the current situation in Venezuela, Trump said that this country was once at a very high level, but then reached a state of destruction due to the economic and political crisis. According to him, new cooperation with America will help in rebuilding Venezuela. He also claimed that oil supplies from Venezuela have already started and results will be visible soon.
Claims of millions of barrels of oil and falling prices
Donald Trump said that oil coming from Venezuela will increase supply in the global energy market, which will put pressure on prices and make oil cheaper. He said, ‘We are taking millions and millions of barrels of oil. Initially it is coming on a daily basis — about 50 million barrels, worth more than $5 billion. Due to this, oil prices will go down further. Describing it as a win-win deal for both the countries, Trump said that it is great for Venezuela and also great for America.
