Another war looming in the Middle East? America is withdrawing troops from Qatar airbase, Iran had threatened

After the ongoing protests in Iran and America’s threat regarding this, the situation in the Middle East is changing rapidly. Iran has issued a stern warning to America and its allies after Donald Trump supported the movement against Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. After this, the process of removing some personnel from America’s largest military airbase in Qatar has been started.

Iran’s warning to countries that help America

Trump has repeatedly threatened to intervene in support of protesters in Iran. According to Reuters report, an Iranian official said on Wednesday (January 14, 2026) that Tehran has warned neighboring countries that help American troops that if Washington attacks, it will attack American targets located in the Middle East. Iran said that American military bases in countries like UAE, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Qatar will also be its target."text-align: justify;">Advised to leave Qatar airbase

According to the report, three diplomats said that some military personnel were advised to leave the US military’s Al-Udeid airbase in Qatar by the evening of January 14. However, this was not an order to leave Qatar, but a posture change i.e. a change in the level of alertness. Iranian officials have accused America and Israel of spreading unrest. Iran has urged regional countries to stop America’s attack.

Decision to hang the protesters

Amidst the ongoing nationwide demonstrations in Iran, the Khamenei government has decided to hang the protesters. Irfan Soltani, who was arrested on January 8 for taking part in the protests, is to be hanged on charges of Mohrebeh or enmity towards God. Trump has warned that America will take major action if Iran tries to hang the protesters.

Trump on Tuesday (January 13, 2026) urged Iranians to continue protesting and occupying institutions, saying help was on the way. However, the US President did not clarify what the exact meaning of ‘help is on the way’ is.

Talks between Iran and America stopped 

Direct contacts between Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff have been suspended. United States forces are spread throughout the region, including Central Command’s forward headquarters in Al-Udeid, Qatar, and the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain.

US-based human rights group HRANA said it has so far confirmed the deaths of 2,403 protesters and 147 government-linked individuals. An Iranian official said on Tuesday that about 2,000 people had been killed.
