Recurrent UTI (Urinary Tract Infection) is not a common problem in women. In the medical world it is also called a ‘silent epidemic’. According to statistics, one out of every two women becomes a victim of this infection at least once in her lifetime and about 25 percent of the women get this infection again and again. Let us tell you Ayurvedic ways to avoid this.

Why does UTI happen?

Bacteria are not the only cause of UTI in women, but the body structure and lifestyle of women also play an important role in it. The urethra in women is shorter than that of men, so bacteria do not have to travel much distance to reach the urinary bladder.

This reason is also responsible

Apart from this, the presence of urethra near the anus also makes infection easier. Due to reduction in estrogen hormone during menopause, the protective bacteria of the vagina are destroyed, which further increases the risk of infection. Besides, drinking less water, stopping urination for a long time, using public toilets and not taking care of hygiene during menstruation also make this problem common.

What is the meaning of UTI in Ayurveda?

In Ayurveda, UTI is not just considered to be a bacterial attack, but it is also called Utricchhatra or enuresis and is linked to the imbalance of Pitta dosha in the body. Too hot, spicy, salty or sour food and indigestion increases pitta, which causes problems like burning sensation in the bladder, frequent urination, pain in the stomach or waist.
