Stock Market News: This year, on February 1, 2026, the day of presentation of the Union Budget, despite it being a Sunday, there will be trading on NSE and BSE. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget for the financial year 2026-27 on that day.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) said in a circular issued to investors that in view of the Budget, ‘live’ trading sessions will be conducted as per normal timings.
Pre-Open Market: Will be from 9:00 am to 9:08 am. Normal business: Will run from 9:15 am to 3:30 pm. Similarly, BSE has also declared February 1 as ‘Special Trading Day’ and said that the markets will remain open for regular trading hours. With the market being open on Budget Day, investors will get an opportunity to react immediately to policy announcements.
End on budget speculations
The Central Government has made it clear that this time too the Union Budget 2026 will be presented as per the schedule on 1st February. Despite it being Sunday, no change has been made in the budget date. All the ongoing speculations regarding this have now come to a complete end. In the recently held meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs (CCPA), all the important dates related to the budget session have been approved. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman can present her ninth budget on this occasion. Till now she has presented 2 interim and 6 full budgets. With this budget, she will leave behind Pranab Mukherjee’s record and equal P. Chidambaram’s record of presenting the budget 9 times.
It is also special that for the first time in the last many years, the budget will be presented on a Sunday, due to which this budget is being considered historic from both political and economic point of view.
