IND U19 Vs BAN U19 In Under-19 World Cup: The seventh match of the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2026 was played between India and Bangladesh on Saturday i.e. January 17, 2026. Team India won this match by 18 runs. In this match, a lot of chaos was seen between the players of both the teams. The captains of both the teams did not shake hands at the time of toss. Now Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has reacted to this by not shaking hands with the Indian captain during the match. This incident happened when Bangladesh’s regular captain could not come for the toss due to illness and the vice-captain took part in his place. BCB said that this was an unintentional mistake and there was no malicious intention.
Both captains did not shake hands at the time of toss
During the Group B match of the Under-19 World Cup played between India and Bangladesh in Bulawayo, both the captains did not shake hands at the time of toss. In the footage captured on camera, it was seen that after the toss, Indian captain Ayush Mhatre and Bangladesh vice-captain Jawad Abrar, who had come for the toss due to the illness of regular captain Azizul Hakim, went straight to talk to the broadcaster.
However, BCB said that this was only the result of a momentary mistake. The board has taken the matter seriously and said that maintaining the spirit of the game is paramount to representing Bangladesh.

What did BCB say in its statement?
BCB said in its statement via post on social media, ‘Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has taken note of an unintentional and inappropriate action taken during the toss between Bangladesh and India before the inaugural match of the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2026, Zimbabwe and Namibia. Due to illness, regular captain Azizul Hakim was unable to participate in the toss, and vice-captain Jawad Abrar represented the team on that occasion.
The board further clarified, ‘BCB wishes to clarify that the incident of not shaking hands with the opposition captain was completely unintentional and was the result of a momentary mistake. Its purpose was not to show disrespect or disrespect in any way. BCB stressed that they are fully committed to the values of cricket on and off the field.
