Iranian President Masoud Pezheshkian has given a stern warning that if any attack is made on Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, it will be considered an open war against the whole of Iran. This warning has come after sharp statements with US President Donald Trump. Pezeshkian wrote on the social media platform X that an attack on our great leader would be like a total war against Iran. His statement has come at a time when tension has increased because Trump had said in an interview that now new leadership is needed in Iran.
The Iranian President wrote, ‘Any attack on our great leader would be tantamount to a total war against the Iranian nation.’ He blamed America for the country’s economic problems. He said that the people of Iran are facing huge difficulties due to the old enmity and inhumane sanctions of America and its allied countries. Earlier, Iran’s supreme leader Khamenei had called Donald Trump a criminal. He alleged that Trump was responsible for the deaths and damage caused during the recent turbulent times in Iran.
Donald Trump’s sharp attack
Donald Trump also launched a scathing attack on Iran’s leadership. He said that the leadership that has been running in Iran for decades should now end and the country should get a new leadership. According to Trump, the protests in Iran in recent weeks are the result of public anger, which is linked to political pressure, economic crisis and human rights violations.
Trump accused Iran’s leaders
Trump accused Iran’s leaders of ruling with the help of fear and violence. He also said that to remain in power the current leadership resorts to repression and has taken the country towards destruction. Relations between Tehran and Washington have remained tense since Trump’s second term. During this period, America’s policy of exerting strong pressure has continued and a war of words is often seen between the leaders of the two countries.
