Their total wealth has increased to 18.3 trillion dollars. The report said that for the first time in 2025, the number of billionaires across the world has crossed 3,000.

Their wealth outweighs half the world’s population

This charity organization said in its report that among these, the wealth of American billionaires has increased the fastest. In the rest of the world too, the wealth of billionaires has increased by double digits. This study by Oxfam is based on academic research and data sources ranging from World Inequality Database to Forbes Rich List.

It found that the wealth of global billionaires will jump by 16 percent to $18.3 trillion in 2025, which is 81 percent or $8.2 trillion more than in 2020. Oxfam has also said in its report that the 12 richest people in the world have more wealth than even half the world’s population i.e. 4 billion people.

AI-based companies also benefited

It was told in the study that this level of wealth of billionaires is the highest in history so far. The increasing valuations of artificial intelligence companies have brought even more profits, making investors richer. Oxfam said, “Last year the pace of growth from November 2024 was 16.2 percent, which is three times more than the average growth rate since 2020.”
