ICC Gives Deadline to Bangladesh Cricket Board: Bangladesh is adamant on its decision of not sending its team to India for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has once again reiterated its point. However, reports are claiming that the International Cricket Council (ICC) can exclude Bangladesh from the T20 World Cup 2026 if it remains adamant. In such a situation, considering the current world ranking, Scotland can be selected as a replacement for Bangladesh. After this news came out, there was a big reaction from Scotland Cricket. Scotland has said that they have not received any such invitation from the ICC so far. But Scotland have also indicated that if they get the offer then they are ready to accept it.

Scotland will not talk to ICC itself

The possibility of ICC giving Scotland a chance to play in the T20 World Cup 2026 in place of Bangladesh has been expressed in many media reports. If ICC excludes Bangladesh from the T20 World Cup, then only the highest ranked country will get a chance. In such a situation, currently Scotland is at number 14 in the world ranking. Therefore, in case of Bangladesh being out, Scotland is the only contender. According to the BBC report, Scotland Cricket officials said that the ICC has not yet contacted them regarding the possibility of getting a chance in the T20 World Cup 2026 as a replacement. Out of respect for his counterpart Bangladesh Cricket Board, he will not talk to ICC on this issue.

ICC gave deadline to Bangladesh

On Monday i.e. 19 January, some media reports had claimed that a meeting was held between ICC and Bangladesh Cricket Board on this issue on Saturday i.e. 10 January. In this meeting held in Dhaka, ICC officials have clearly told Bangladesh that only 3 weeks are left for the organization of T20 World Cup 2026. In such a situation, neither its matches can be shifted to Sri Lanka nor its group can be changed. The report claimed that the ICC has rejected Bangladesh’s security concerns in India. Besides, he has also been given a deadline of January 21 to take the decision. However, Bangladesh rejected this claim in a press conference on Monday evening. Also reiterated again that he is not going to play in India.
