The ICC had rejected the demand of Bangladesh Cricket Board on Wednesday. Along with this, ICC had given one day’s time to BCB to take the final decision. Now today is the day of decision. Actually, Bangladesh Cricket Board had requested to shift its matches of 2026 T20 World Cup out of India citing security reasons. BCB made this request after its player Mustafizur Rahman was thrown out of the IPL. Now there has been a new twist in the matter. BCB has left the final decision to its players.
According to the report, BCB has left the decision of going to India for the 2026 T20 World Cup to the players. It has been said in the report that the board wants to take feedback from its players on this matter. Let us tell you that Bangladesh has announced its team for the 2026 T20 World Cup.
The ICC said in a statement, “The ICC Board noted that shifting the matches in the current circumstances could jeopardize the sanctity of ICC tournaments and undermine the impartiality of the organization as a global governing body.“ According to the ICC, the board reviewed a number of security assessments, including independent evaluations, all of which concluded that there is no threat to the safety of Bangladesh players, officials, media personnel or fans at any of the tournament venues in India.
The ICC said that it is no longer possible to make changes to the schedule at such short notice and that making changes to matches unless a security risk is confirmed could set an undesirable precedent for future global events. Cricket’s apex body said its management has held several meetings and correspondence with the BCB over the past few weeks, sharing detailed information about the security arrangements for the tournament.
