The 2026 T20 World Cup will be held in India and Sri Lanka from 7 February-8 March. The World Cup trophy has reached Sri Lanka, where the tour to display the trophy has started. The trophy was displayed at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Thursday, 22 January. Before the first ODI match between Sri Lanka and England was played, the trophy traveled through the sky and landed at the R Premadasa Stadium, the video of which is being shared widely on social media.
On 22 January, the first ODI match between Sri Lanka and England was played at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Before the start of the match, two paragliders landed on the field carrying the T20 World Cup trophy. After landing, they installed the trophy on the ground and a photoshoot of both the parafliers also took place.
The tour to display the T20 World Cup trophy in Sri Lanka started from January 21, which will continue till January 24. During this period the trophy will be displayed in Colombo, Kandy, Dambulla and Jaffna.

World Cup matches will be held in 3 grounds of Sri Lanka
Three grounds of Sri Lanka were selected for the T20 World Cup 2026. Their names are R Premadasa Stadium (Colombo), SSC Cricket Ground (Colombo) and Pallikal Stadium (Kandy). A total of 22 matches of the World Cup will be played in Sri Lanka. But if Pakistan does not reach the semi-finals and finals, then these 2 matches will be organized in India.
On the other hand, 5 grounds of India were selected for the World Cup. Narendra Modi Stadium (Ahmedabad), MA Chidambaram Stadium (Chennai), Arun Jaitley Stadium (Delhi), Eden Gardens (Kolkata) and Wankhede Stadium (Mumbai) will together host the World Cup matches. So far, India has won the T20 World Cup twice, while Sri Lanka has achieved this feat once.
