A very good news has emerged for the youth preparing for government jobs in Jammu and Kashmir. Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board i.e. JKSSB has started the process of bumper recruitment for the posts of constable. More than 600 vacant posts will be filled under this recruitment. Candidates who want to become constable in Police Department in Jammu and Kashmir can now apply online by visiting the official website.
According to the information released by JKSSB, the application process for this recruitment has started and interested candidates can fill their application form till 02 March 2026. The Commission has made it clear that no candidate’s form will be accepted after the last date. In such a situation, candidates are advised to complete the application process in time.
The minimum age of candidates to apply for constable posts has been fixed at 18 years. The maximum age limit has been kept according to different categories and posts. The maximum age for some posts has been fixed at 28 years, for some at 30 years and for some special categories up to 40 years. Reserved category candidates will also be given age relaxation as per government rules.
How much is the fee?
To apply for this recruitment, candidates will also have to deposit the application fee. The application fee for general category candidates has been fixed at Rs 700. Whereas candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Economically Weaker Section will have to pay a fee of Rs 600. Application fee can be paid through online mode only.
How will the selection be done?
The selection process of constable recruitment will be completed in several stages. First of all the candidates will have to give written examination. This examination will be based on multiple choice questions and questions will be asked in English language. One-fourth marks will be deducted for giving wrong answers in the examination, hence candidates are advised to answer the questions thoughtfully.
Candidates who are successful in the written examination will be called for the next stage. In the second phase, physical standard test and physical efficiency test will be conducted. Through these examinations, height, weight, chest and physical ability of the candidates will be examined. It will be necessary to pass both these stages, only then the candidates will be able to participate in the further process.
Candidates successful in PST and PET will be called for the final stage in which document verification will be done. During this, the educational certificates, age certificate, identity card and other important documents of the candidates will be checked. The selection of the candidate will be considered confirmed only if all the documents are found correct.
