The hearing in the Delhi High Court on the petition of Rani Kapoor, mother of late industrialist Sanjay Kapoor, has been postponed today. Delhi High Court will now hear Rani Kapoor’s petition on January 28.
Rani Kapoor has filed a case in the Delhi High Court against the children of her daughter-in-law Priya Kapoor and actress Karisma Kapoor, demanding that the family trust be declared invalid. In the petition, Rani Kapoor has alleged that Priya and Karisma’s children have created a fraudulent family trust to illegally grab her entire property. Rani Kapoor has also alleged that the family trust is fraudulent, invalid and void and her entire property and family inheritance was illegally transferred to that trust without her knowledge or consent.
Claim to be husband’s sole heir
According to the application filed in Delhi High Court, Rani Kapoor said that she is the only heir of her late husband Dr. Surinder Kapoor. Dr. Kapoor was the promoter of Sona Group of companies and he died in June 2015. He had made a will on 6 February 2013 under which his entire property went to Rani Kapoor. This will also got probate from the Bombay High Court in January 2016 and his three children had given consent to it.
Despite this, Rani Kapoor alleges that around 2017, her property was put into a trust through a complex and illegal transaction. He also said that soon after his son’s death, daughter-in-law Priya Kapoor took over important positions in Sona Group companies without informing him.
Rani Kapoor claimed that the company’s information was hidden from her by declaring her email ID as hacked and decisions about the trust and the company were taken by creating a new email without her knowledge. Now Rani Kapoor has demanded from the court that her entire property and family heritage should be handed back to her, as it was before the formation of this alleged trust.
