‘Puppet government will have to be overthrown at any cost’, Sheikh Hasina got angry at Mohammad Yunus, put this demand in front of Bangladesh

Former Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina targeted the interim government led by Mohammad Yunus before the assembly elections to be held in the country. To restore democracy and constitution in Bangladesh, he called for the overthrow of the puppet government of Mohammad Yunus. In an audio message played at the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of South Asia in New Delhi, Sheikh Hasina accused Yunus of pushing Bangladesh into an era of terror, anarchy and democratic exile.

Taking aim at Mohammad Yunus, Sheikh Hasina said, ‘This foreign-friendly puppet government will have to be uprooted at all costs. The brave sons and daughters of Bangladesh must protect and restore the Constitution written with the blood of martyrs. We must regain our independence and protect our sovereignty. We have to revive our democracy. During this time he also expressed his views on the political turmoil and current situation in Bangladesh.

A conspiracy was hatched to remove me: Sheikh Hasina

He said, ‘Bangladesh today stands on the brink of deep darkness. A country which is badly injured and bleeding. My country is passing through one of the most dangerous chapters in its history. The entire country has become a big prison and a valley of death. A conspiracy was forcefully hatched to remove me from power and since that day the country has plunged into bloody anarchy. The Bangladesh we are seeing today is a democracy in exile.

Screams of people can be heard in Bangladesh: Sheikh Hasina

Taking aim at the interim chief advisor, he said, ‘Everywhere in Bangladesh, screams of people struggling to survive amid the devastation are being heard. The killer fascist Yunus is motivated by loot of money and lust for power. He is drenching the country in blood. This has tainted the soul of our motherland. On August 5, 2024, as part of a well-planned conspiracy, the enemy of the country, the bloody fascist Yunus and his anti-national extremist associates forcibly ousted me from power.

Sheikh Hasina’s five demands

Sheikh Hasina said that her Awami League is putting forward five-point demands aimed at national reconciliation and democratic revival. He said, we urge Mohammad Yunus to stop ignoring his people and take necessary steps to unite our country.

1. Restore democracy by removing the illegal Yunus administration.
2. End the violence taking place daily on our streets.
3. Guarantee the protection of religious minorities, women and the most vulnerable sections of our society.
4. End politically motivated legal tactics used to intimidate and jail journalists and members of Bangladesh Awami League and opposition political parties.
5. Invite the United Nations to conduct a new and truly impartial investigation into the events of the past year.
