Today, just one missed call, fake message or fake customer care number is enough to empty someone’s account. The most dangerous thing is that people often get nervous after realizing that they have been cheated and this nervousness causes the biggest loss.

The government has started a national helpline to deal with cyber fraud. Which comes in handy at that very moment when you are a victim of fraud.

As soon as you feel that cyber fraud has happened to you. Without wasting any time call the number 1930. This is the National Cyber Crime Helpline of the Government of India and is operational 24×7. As soon as you call this number, your complaint is registered and an alert is sent to the concerned bank or payment platform. Efforts are made to freeze the defrauded amount before further transfer.

The most important thing here is time. If a complaint is made within the first few minutes of a fraud, the chances of getting the money back increase manifold. While calling, clearly explain the transaction details, mobile number, name of the bank and the method of fraud. If you want, you can also file an online complaint on cybercrime.gov.in portal. So that your case comes on record and further action is expedited.
What things should be kept in mind to avoid fraud?
Most cyber frauds start in the same way. Someone pretends to be a bank officer and asks for OTP. Someone sends the link in the name of refund, while someone shows fear of KYC update. Keep in mind that no bank or government organization asks for OTP, PIN or password over the phone. If someone does this then understand that there is a fraud in front of you.
Do not click on any unknown link. No matter how genuine the message may seem. Do not give remote access to your phone to anyone other than the bank app. Ads containing free gifts and discounts posted on social media can also be a big trap. Stay away from these also.
