ICC announced the replacement of Bangladesh, included this country in the 2026 T20 World Cup.

ICC has included Scotland in Group C in place of Bangladesh in the T20 World Cup 2026. BCB had demanded to shift its matches to Sri Lanka citing security, which ICC had already rejected. After this BCB said that if their matches are held in India then it is boycotting the tournament. ICC has now included Scotland in the tournament as a replacement for Bangladesh.

According to the report of Cricbuzz, Scotland has been officially included in the T20 World Cup 2026, which will be included in Group C in place of Bangladesh. That means Scotland will have to play the first 3 matches at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, which will be played on 7 (West Indies), 9 (Italy) and 14 (England) February. On 17th February, Scotland’s match will be with Nepal in Mumbai.

ICC had given 24 hours time to Bangladesh Cricket Board to convey its decision, after which ICC included Scotland in the tournament. Many veterans are considering this decision of Bangladesh as stupid, because they are going to suffer a loss of about Rs 300 crore due to this.

Where did the controversy start?

After the murder of 2 Hindu youths in Bangladesh, there was opposition against the KKR franchise in India, because they included Mustafizur Rahman in their team for Rs 9.20 crore. After this, KKR told that BCCI has ordered them to release the Bangladeshi player. Just after this, BCB called an emergency meeting and decided that they would demand to play their T20 World Cup matches in Sri Lanka. Although BCCI clarified that it is almost impossible to change the schedule now considering logistics, hotel booking etc., but BCB stuck to its point.
