Google Search: Google has given a big and interesting upgrade to its search engine. The company has introduced a new feature in AI Mode which is being called ‘Personal Intelligence’. Through this feature, Google Search will not only understand your questions but will also show you more accurate and useful results based on information related to your daily life.
What is the new personal intelligence feature of Google Search?
In this new feature of Google, AI Mode has been linked to your Gmail and Google Photos. This means that now while searching, Google will respond keeping in mind the information present in your email and photos. Its purpose is that you do not have to repeat the same thing every time and the search results match your current situation.
Like Gemini AI, but more advanced
Actually, Google has already provided such a facility in Gemini AI. But now this technology is being brought directly into Google Search. The only difference is that now while searching, AI will already know what you are doing or what you are preparing for.
How does this new AI mode work?
If you turn on the Personal Intelligence feature, Google Search’s AI Mode gets connected to your Gmail and Photos.
Suppose:
If you are going somewhere and search for a restaurant, then AI can suggest nearby places to eat by looking at the hotel booking in your email. If you search things like “what to do”, AI can look at your old travel photos and give you ideas based on your preferences. This means that search results will now be based not just on words but also on your habits and preferences.
Nothing can be seen without permission
If this question is coming in your mind whether these suggestions will not appear automatically, then there is no need to panic. Google clearly says that this feature will work only if you yourself allow it. Data from Gmail or Photos will not be used without your permission.
This feature is currently in testing
Currently, this new personal intelligence feature is not available worldwide. Currently it is being tested under Google Labs.
To use it:
- AI Pro or AI Ultra subscription required
- Must have a personal Google account
- User must be in the US
- Currently it works only in English language
- This facility is not yet provided on Workspace, Office, School or Business accounts.
What about privacy in Google Search?
Regarding privacy, Google has clearly said that complete control will be in the hands of the user. You will have to turn on this feature yourself. If you want, you can stop access to Gmail or Photos anytime. As soon as you turn off the feature, AI will stop using your personal information. You can use AI Mode even without sharing any data. Most importantly, Google will not use your email or photos to train AI. This data will be used only to better answer your questions.
When will this feature come to India?
This new AI feature of Google Search is not available in India right now. At present, the company has not given any official information regarding its launch in India. However, it has definitely become clear that Google is working towards making Search more personal and smart in the future. When this feature comes to India, tasks like travel planning, finding places to eat, shopping and daily planning can become even easier.
