The Civil Services Examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is counted among the most difficult and prestigious examinations in the country. Every year lakhs of candidates appear in this examination, but only a few get success. One such inspirational story is that of IAS Trupti Kalhans, who proved that even students performing average in school-college can pass the toughest examination of the country with hard work and right strategy.
Study from Gonda to Delhi University
IAS Trupti Kalhans is originally from Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh. She completed her early education from Gonda itself. During her school days, Trupti was an ordinary student and often used to sit on the back bench in the class. After 12th, he completed B.Com from Kamala Nehru College, Delhi University. After graduation, he decided to prepare for UPSC Civil Services Examination.
Four failed attempts and mental struggle
While preparing for UPSC, Tripti appeared for the exam four times in a row, but failed every time. His confidence began to waver due to repeated failures. The situation became such that relatives stopped asking him questions about UPSC and friends also started feeling that this preparation had become a permanent part of his life. Many times Tripti herself started wondering why despite being a backbencher, she had such a big dream.
Change in strategy became the key to success
Even after four failures, instead of accepting defeat, Trupti changed her preparation strategy. He distanced himself from social media and started focusing on smart and quality studies instead of studying for long hours. He understood difficult subjects in his own language and introspected continuously. Along with this, he also paid special attention to his interview skills.
Historic success achieved in 5th attempt
The result of four years of continuous hard work, patience and changed strategy was that Trupti Kalhans secured 199th rank in UPSC CSE 2023. With this success, she was selected in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and became an officer.
Inspirational message for youth
The story of IAS Tripti Kalhansa gives the message that being a school rank or a backbencher does not determine your success. The key to real success is to learn from failure, move forward, have faith in yourself and keep trying.
