On Saturday, there was a commotion on platform number one at Malad railway station of Western Railway line in Mumbai, Maharashtra, when due to a minor altercation in the train, a young man named Omkar Shinde stabbed college professor Alok Singh to death. After this the accused ran away from there. This sensational incident that took place on the station premises created chaos.
The police reached this information, took possession of the body, identified the accused from the CCTV footage and arrested him. At present the body has been sent for post-mortem. Whereas carrying a sharp knife in the train has exposed the railway security arrangements.
What is the whole matter?
The incident took place at Malad station, both were traveling in a local train, there was a dispute between them over some issue. After which, as soon as the train stopped on platform number one, Omkar Shinde suddenly attacked Alok Singh with a knife. Due to the knife attack, Alok fell down drenched in blood. Seeing all this there was an outcry among the passengers. Getting the opportunity, Omkar ran away from there. Police arrived on information and took Alok to the hospital in an injured condition where doctors declared him dead.
Arrested after identification from CCTV
While running away after the murder, Omkar was captured in the CCTV installed at the station. The police showed promptness and arrested him from Vasai station. Interrogation of accused Omkar is going on in Borivali stations. According to the police, there was no previous enmity between the two. There was some dispute in the train itself. At present the body has been sent for post-mortem, further action will be taken after the report.
On the other hand, this incident has exposed the security arrangements in the Railways. A person is traveling openly with a knife, he has not been caught anywhere. Whereas there are checking machines and equipment at all the stations. There is anger among the passengers also regarding this incident.
