How much electricity is being consumed? Infosys sent email to all workers, know what is the matter?

Infosys: The country’s biggest IT company Infosys is trying to find out from its workers how much electricity is being consumed during work from home. Its objective is to reduce the impact of excessive electricity consumption by producing more clean energy as part of the sustainability program that has been running for more than 15 years. The purpose of this survey is not only to save energy but also to increase awareness about the proper use of electricity.

Workers working in hybrid mode

Hybrid work policy is currently implemented in Infosys. Under this, most of the employees have to work from office for at least 10 days in a month and all the remaining days work from home. The report said that Infosys Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jayesh Sanghrajka told the employees through email that the company has started a survey of electricity usage during work-from-home and asked them to spare a few minutes and answer it.

What did the CFO say?

The Economic Times report quoted the CFO as saying, “As hybrid work has become an essential part of our operations, the environmental impact of our work extends beyond our campuses to our homes. The electricity used while working from home is also contributing to Infosys’ greenhouse gas emissions footprint. As we improve and update our reporting methodology, we get accurate data on current energy use while working from home. Doing so is essential to our continued efforts.”

According to the report, Infosys has more than 300000 employees in its Bangalore office. It was told from the office that sustainability is the responsibility of all of us. The CFO also said that the company has shown its commitment through its achievements. It has achieved carbon neutrality ahead of the international deadline, reduced per capita energy consumption by 55% since 2008, and got nearly 77% of its electricity from renewable sources last year.
