Oscar winning singer and composer AR Rahman is in news for his recent statement. Some stars are supporting him, while some have expressed their disagreement with him.
In fact, in an interview with BBC Asian Network, Rahman had said that there is communal business in the film industry and now decisions are being taken by people who are not creative. His statement became a cause of debate on social media and in the film industry.
Arun Govil spoke on AR Rahman’s communal statement
Now, on this statement of AR Rahman, Arun Govil, who played the role of Lord Ram in Ramayana, has also given his opinion and said that there should be no discrimination on the basis of religion in the industry. Arun Govil says that there is no communal business in the industry. Speaking to PTI, he said, ‘It has never happened in our industry that people did not get work due to communal business. There are examples of this in our industry.
He said, ‘People of every religion have worked in our industry. Even today there is nothing like this. In fact, the film industry is the only industry where there is no communal business. While explaining his point, Arun Govil mentioned Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan who are ruling the industry. The actor said, ‘Earlier we had actors like Dilip Kumar, he was the king of the industry in his time. Even today Shahrukh, Salman, Aamir, all of them are stars. If it was a communal business, how would he have become a star?
AR Rahman had given clarification
Let us tell you, in the interview after which the controversy started, A.R. Rahman had said that now decisions in the music industry are being taken by people who are not creative. He also said that this could perhaps be related to some communal business, but nothing like this was said to him directly. AR Rahman told that he did not get information about many decisions directly but by hearing from here and there, which he called ‘Chinese whispers’.
