India is going to celebrate the 77th Republic Day with great enthusiasm across the country on 26 January 2026. This day is special in Indian history because the Constitution came into force in the country on 26 January 1950, which established India as a sovereign, democratic and republic nation. It is not just a national festival, but a symbol of respect for the Constitution, democracy and civil rights.
Like every year, this time too a grand Republic Day parade will be organized on the duty path of the national capital New Delhi. In this parade, a glimpse of India’s cultural diversity, military power, scientific progress and self-reliant India will be seen.
Republic Day Parade 2026 Timings and Venue
President Draupadi Murmu will lead the 77th Republic Day celebrations. The parade will be organized on the duty path of New Delhi, where the entry of spectators will start from the morning itself. The parade will start at 9.30 am, while it will be telecast live on Doordarshan and other mediums from 10.30 am. Entry gates will be opened for the general public from 7 am.
Air Force’s flypast and ‘Sindoor’ formation will be the center of attraction
The Republic Day celebrations will conclude with a grand flypast of the Indian Air Force. This year the Air Force will display a special ‘Sindoor’ formation, which will be based on the fighter aircraft associated with Operation Sindoor. This formation will showcase India’s air power, technological capability and self-reliance in the defense sector. The flypast will include state-of-the-art fighter aircraft like Rafale, Sukhoi-30, MiG-29 and Jaguar, which will thrill the spectators by performing spectacular stunts in the sky.
Picture of developed and diverse India will be visible through tableaux
A total of 30 tableaux will be included in the Republic Day Parade 2026. These will have tableaux of 17 states and union territories, while 13 tableaux will be presented by various central ministries and services. In these tableaux, topics like Terracotta Art of Assam, Agricultural Progress of Manipur, Devbhoomi Identity of Himachal Pradesh and Special Veterans Tableau of Indian Air Force will be shown. The overall theme of the tableaux has been kept as Mantra of Independence: Vande Mataram and Mantra of Prosperity: Self-reliant India. .
Chief Guest of Republic Day 2026
This time the top leadership of the European Union has been invited as the chief guest in the 77th Republic Day celebrations. European Council President Antonio Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will be present at the ceremony.
The ceremony will start from the National War Memorial
As per the Republic Day tradition, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will start the celebrations by visiting the National War Memorial to pay tribute to the martyred soldiers. After this, he will reach the saluting platform located on the duty path and inspect the parade.
Participation of diverse sections of the society
This year around 10,000 special guests will attend the Republic Day celebrations. These include Para Athletics World Championship winners, farmers practicing natural farming, transgenders and beggars rehabilitated under the PM-Smile scheme, scientists associated with ISRO missions like Gaganyaan and Chandrayaan.
President’s address to the nation
President Draupadi Murmu will address the nation on the eve of Republic Day at 7 pm on January 25. This address will be broadcast first in Hindi and then in English on all national networks of All India Radio and all channels of Doordarshan. After this it will also be narrated in regional languages.
