PM Narendra Modi once again mentioned millets (coarse grains) in the first episode of his radio program ‘Mann Ki Baat’ of the year 2026 on January 25 (Sunday). He said that millets are a part of the country’s tradition and today the whole world is considering them as superfood. According to Dr. Anup Mishra, head of the nutrition department of Delhi AIIMS, millets are rich in fibre, which strengthens the digestive system and removes the problem of constipation. Millets are also very good for diabetic patients, because they have low glycemic index. Eating these does not increase blood sugar quickly. People should eat ragi, jowar or millet roti daily, which are very good for their health.

Dr. Mishra told that millets are rich in iron, calcium and magnesium. This is a panacea for people suffering from anemia. Especially women and children must eat millets. These strengthen bones and increase immunity.
