‘This shows the spirit of capability’, PM Modi congratulated Padma award winners

On the eve of Republic Day, the Union Home Ministry on Sunday announced the winners of the Padma Awards. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Padma award winners. He said that their ability, dedication and service in different fields makes our society better.

131 people received Padma Award

According to the Union Home Ministry, President Draupadi Murmu approved the names of a total of 131 Padma awardees for the year 2026, in which 5 personalities received Padma Vibhushan, 13 received Padma Bhushan and 113 received Padma Shri awards. 19 women are also included among the award recipients. The list of Padma awards also includes 6 persons from foreign, NRI, PIO and OCI categories and 16 posthumous awardees.

Dharmendra and Shibu Soren received posthumous honor

The names of Dharmendra Singh Deol (posthumously), KT Thomas, N Rajam, P Narayanan and VS Achuthanandan (posthumously) are in the list of Padma Vibhushan, while Alka Yagnik, Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Kallipatti Ramasamy Palaniswami, Mammootty, Dr. Nori Dattatreyudu, Vijay Amritraj, Piyush Pandey (posthumously), SKM Mailainandan, Shatavadhani R Ganesh, former CM Shibu Soren (posthumously), Uday Kotak, VK Malhotra (posthumously) and Vellappally Natesan were honored with the Padma Bhushan award.
