Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met Hussain Ibrahim Taha, Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) of 57 Muslim countries of the world.
‘China ready to work with Islamic countries’
The Chinese Foreign Minister said that OIC is the largest intergovernmental organization in the Islamic world. He said, ‘China has always given strategic importance to improving relations with Islamic countries. We appreciate the OIC’s support on the issue of Xinjiang and Taiwan. He said China is ready to work with Islamic countries to protect the rights and interests of developing countries and prevent the world from returning to the law of the jungle. This statement of China’s Foreign Minister was regarding Trump’s tariff threats.
‘Peace and stability should be maintained in the Middle East’
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that both sides should focus on Belt and Road cooperation. According to the report of news agency Xinhua, he said, ‘Political resolution of regional tension areas should be promoted and peace and stability should be maintained in the Middle East.’ He called on both sides to contribute to maintaining the United Nations and international relations.
Hussein Ibrahim Taha said, ‘OIC firmly adheres to China’s principles. We oppose external interference in China’s internal affairs. He said that OIC appreciates China’s support on the Palestinian issue.
Increasing tension in the Middle East
These talks between China and the OIC come amid rising tensions in the Middle East, when an Iranian official said that any attack on his country would lead to a full-scale war. Earlier, Trump had warned that an American naval fleet was moving towards Iran. He also said that this is only as a precaution.
