Priyanka Chaturvedi’s big statement amid protests against UGC bill, ‘Caste discrimination happens but…’

UGC Bill 2026 is being opposed. Meanwhile, Uddhav Thackeray faction’s MP Priyanka Chaturvedi has reacted on this. He said that it is true that there is caste discrimination but if there is discrimination in the guidelines itself then it is very unfortunate. He said that in order to end exploitation, we are bringing in more exploitation, this is not right. He demanded that the form in which these guidelines have come should either be withdrawn or changes should be made in it.

‘It is unfortunate to consider one side exploited and the other side exploited’

Priyanka Chaturvedi said, “Yes, I agree that there is caste discrimination a lot of the time. There are guidelines on that. But if there is discrimination in the guidelines itself, that you think of one side as the exploited one and the other side thinks that they are the exploiters, that is, this judgment is very unfortunate.”

‘What will be the penalty if a false case is detected?’

The Shiv Sena UBT MP further said, “I believe that if seven cases are of AC, ST, OBC, there may be three of general category, two or one which is of general category. Who will determine on what basis caste discrimination is taking place. Secondly, what I believe is that if a false case is detected, what will be its penalty. It is about the career of a student… It is absolutely necessary to withdraw this guideline. An atmosphere is created across the country. It has happened. This is the demand across the country.”

Priyanka Chaturvedi also said, “I hope that the Prime Minister and the Home Minister will think on what basis this decision was taken. They will ask the Education Minister to withdraw it as soon as possible or make changes in it.”
