Imagine if India creates such a trade power center in its own sea that can give direct competition to global giants like China and Singapore. Now this dream is about to become reality. Adani Ports is going to make a historic investment of ₹16,000 crore in Vizhinjam Port of South India. It is going to become India’s largest transshipment hub, which will take the country out of dependence on Colombo and Singapore. After completion of phase two, the capacity of this port will directly reach 41 lakh TEU. The port will have 21 advanced STS cranes and 45 CRMG cranes, due to which container handling will be completely based on automation and technology. Human error will reduce, speed will increase and cost will reduce. Rail handling yard will make cargo movement faster. Eco-friendly initiatives like electric vehicle charging stations and modern pollution control systems will make it a true green port. As an engineering marvel, a 920 meter long and 21 meter deep breakwater will be built in the port, so that big ships can dock easily. ISPS standards will be followed for security.
