Border 2 Box Office: Bollywood superstar Sunny Deol’s film ‘Border 2’ has become the biggest opener of 2026 and has also become the highest grossing film of the year. It has surpassed the earnings of ‘Dhurandhar’ and ‘Gadar 2’ but the film has not been able to recover its full budget yet. ‘Border 2’ has collected Rs 193 crore in four days. But why is it not a hit? According to Koimoi.com, the budget of Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan’s multi-starrer film ‘Border 2’ is around Rs 250 crore. According to the official statement of the makers, Border 2 has earned Rs 193 crore in four days. That means the film made with a budget of Rs 250 crore has recovered 70.35% of its budget in four days. To be successful the film still needs at least Rs 81.52 crores.

To become a hit, you will have to earn Rs 300 crores.
If a film earns 120% to 140% of its budget, then the makers get profit. So ‘Border 2’ will have to earn at least Rs 300 crore to be a hit.
For superhit- 350 crores have to be earned-
To get the tag of superhit, ‘Border 2’ will have to earn at least Rs 350 crore. A film is considered a superhit after earning 140%-170% of its budget.
For Blockbuster – 425 crores have to be earned
To be successful, ‘Border 2’ will have to earn more than Rs 425 crore. When a film earns 170%–200% of its budget, it gets the tag of a blockbuster, as happened with the recent release ‘Dhurandhar’. This film has been made with a budget of Rs 280 crore and has so far given 296% profit to the makers. This film has earned more than Rs 900 crore after being in theaters for 50 days.

Trade analyst and critic Taran Adarsh wrote on X today, “Nobody is able to stop ‘Border 2’ at this point. The film has surpassed all pre-release expectations by a huge margin. This film is currently following the blockbuster trend. Now the collection from Tuesday to Thursday will make it clear how long and how strong the momentum of the film is going to be.
