Before the T20 World Cup, the confidence of the Indian team is at its peak and its reflection is clearly visible in the latest ICC T20 rankings. Indian players, who performed well in the five-match T20 series against New Zealand, have got the direct benefit of their brilliant play. Especially Abhishek Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav have registered their strong presence in the rankings by batting stormily against the Kiwi bowlers.
Abhishek Sharma’s number-1 chair becomes stronger
Indian opener Abhishek Sharma is currently number-1 in the ranking of T20 batsmen and his performance against New Zealand has further cemented this position. The rating of Abhishek, who scored consecutive half-centuries in the first two matches of the series, has reached 929 points. This is very close to the best rating of his career (931). At present, England’s Phil Salt is at number 2, while Tilak Verma is at third place.
Great comeback of Suryakumar Yadav
Former number-1 batsman Suryakumar Yadav has also made a huge jump in the rankings. He has moved up five places to reach seventh position. His unbeaten inning of 57 runs played against New Zealand in Guwahati has strengthened his comeback. Surya’s form just before the World Cup is being considered a big relief for India.
Bowlers and all-rounders also benefit
Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has jumped four places in the bowlers’ rankings by taking three wickets in the third T20. Now he has reached number 13. Varun Chakraborty is still at the top in the ranking of T20 bowlers.
Talking about all-rounders, Hardik Pandya has moved up one place to third position, while Shivam Dubey has jumped six places to reach 11th position. Sikandar Raza of Zimbabwe is at the top in this category.
