Today (29 January) is historical in the history of cricket. On this day, Irfan Pathan created history against Pakistan in Karachi, he took a hat-trick in the very first over. Irfan Pathan’s historic hat-trick
In that Test, which started from January 29, 2006, Indian captain Rahul Dravid had won the toss and decided to bowl first, which Irfan proved right in the very first over. He bowled the first over. After dotting the first 3 balls, Pathan dismissed Salman Butt on the fourth ball. He got Younis Khan out LBW on the very next ball. By bowling Mohammad Yusuf on the last ball of the over, Irfan became the second Indian bowler to take a hat-trick in Test cricket.
Before Irfan, Harbhajan Singh had taken a hat-trick in Test cricket, he did this against Australia in March 2001. Harbhajan was the first Indian to take a hat-trick in Tests, after that Irfan was the second bowler to do so. The last time Jasprit Bumrah took a hat-trick in Test for India, he did this against West Indies in 2019.
Still India had lost
However, Irfan Pathan’s magical hat-trick was not enough to give India victory. After 6 wickets fell at 39, Kamran Akmal scored a century, Abdul Razzaq and Shoaib Akhtar scored 45-45 runs, taking Pakistan’s score to 245. India’s first innings was limited to 238 runs only.
