How Much Cold Can The Human Body Tolerate: Whether you like scorching heat or bitter cold, sudden and extreme changes in temperature are alarm bells for our body. The human body is homeothermic, that is, the internal temperature of our body remains almost the same. Usually it is around 37 degrees Celsius. When the temperature falls, the body starts getting out of balance. Let us tell you how much cold the human body can tolerate.

What is the problem when it is too cold?

When the temperature falls, it has a direct effect on the body. When one feels cold, the body first reduces the amount of blood reaching the skin, produces heat through shivering and tries to trap hot air near the skin by raising hairs. But when the cold becomes too cold, these natural protection systems of the body stop working. If the internal temperature of the body goes below 35 degrees Celsius, it is called hypothermia. Now let us tell you how dangerous this situation can be.

How dangerous is hypothermia?

According to Medical News Today, there are three types of hypothermia. In the first place comes mild hypothermia, in which the body temperature remains between 32 to 35 degrees Celsius. In this condition the symptoms appear gradually. The person may feel hungry, nauseated, confused or confused. The skin starts looking pale and dry.

Second comes moderate hypothermia, in which the body temperature falls below 32 degrees Celsius. At this level the body starts becoming sluggish. Heart beat and breathing slow down. The system that controls the brain’s temperature gets disturbed, which can lead to strange behavior, such as taking off clothes without any reason. After this comes third severe hypothermia, in which the body temperature falls below 28 degrees Celsius. This is the most dangerous situation. The body’s activity almost stops, blood pressure and heart rate drop rapidly and the risk of death increases greatly. In this situation the person may even become unconscious.

What not to do and what to do when it is too cold?

If there is severe cold, then avoid consuming alcohol to protect the body from cold. Do not use the hot water bottle directly. Along with this, to keep the body active, keep doing light activities and wear warm layered clothes.
