BJP’s Saurabh Joshi has been elected as the new Mayor of Chandigarh Municipal Corporation. In a triangular contest, he defeated Yogesh Dhingra of Aam Aadmi Party. Saurabh Joshi got 18 votes, while Yogesh Dhingra got 11 votes and Congress candidate Gurpreet Gabi got 7 votes.
This time in the mayor election, councilors were asked to show their support and later their signatures were also taken. Due to voting by show of hands, there was no cross voting and all the parties got votes as per their numerical strength.
