Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday presented the Economic Survey for the financial year 2024-25, on which Samajwadi Party MP Awadhesh Prasad took a dig. He said that there is nothing for farmers in the Economic Survey report.

Speaking to IANS, SP MP Awadhesh Prasad said, “The Finance Minister has presented the Economic Survey report in the House today, in which there is nothing for the farmers. Farmers are our food providers. About 72 percent of the people of our country are associated with agriculture. Unless our farmers are happy, our country cannot be happy. It seems as if the government is lying about where they want to see the country in 2047, but the reality is something else.

Regarding the developed Bharat-ji Ramji Bill, the SP MP said, “Earlier it was MNREGA, which was about a 20 year old scheme. This scheme was for the labor class. The purchasing power of our currency has decreased since the wages were there 20 years ago. As a result, inflation has increased. The price of gold and silver in India has become more expensive than in any other country in the world. All the things have become expensive. If the government is truly friendly to the farmers, then they are the most First, increase the wages of farmers and workers according to today’s inflation.”

The workers are not going to be paid for the work they have done – Avedhash Prasad

He said, “At the same time, in today’s time, there are crores of farmer laborers who have done hard work and wages, but they have not received their payment. Their number is not in hundreds and thousands but in crores. If nothing has been said about this in the Economic Survey report, then it should be assumed that the laborers are not going to be paid for the work they have done.”

Government should complete the previous payment – Awadhesh Prasad

The SP MP said, “The government has said in its report that it has increased the number of working days under the scheme to 125 days. Most of the workers in the country go to other states to earn their livelihood, in such a situation, instead of 125 days, their number should have been increased to 200. The government should have completed the previous payment and should have made the payment as per today’s times.”
