Bhajanlal Sharma government of Rajasthan has approved the new excise policy in the state. In the new policy, the Excise Commissioner will now decide the timing of opening and closing of liquor shops. By changing the excise policy, the government now wants to increase the closing time of liquor shops from 8 pm to 10 pm.

This step is being taken so that the sale of liquor can be increased and the government can get more revenue. However, there is now a political turmoil in Rajasthan regarding this. Former CM Ashok Gehlot as well as Rajasthan Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasara expressed strong objection to this, while BJP and Rajasthan government, instead of talking on the issues, are instead targeting the Congress.

Government seal after Finance Department

After getting the approval of the Finance Department, the new excise policy of Rajasthan has also been approved by the government. It is believed that this change has been made by the government to fill its treasury. Under this, not only will the closing time of liquor shops be increased from 8 pm to 10 pm, but the prices of liquor will also be increased.

Ashok Gehlot reacted on social media

Due to illness, former Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot is currently undergoing treatment in Mumbai, but he has expressed strong objection to this through social media. Ashok Gehlot has said on social media platform X that keeping liquor shops open till late night will not only increase crimes but women will also feel unsafe.

Govind Singh Dotasara said political attack

State President of Congress Party, Govind Singh Dotasara, while making a political attack, has alleged that the treasury of the government has become empty. There is no money left even to distribute salaries to the employees. For this reason, the government is now trying to fill its pockets by selling liquor. According to him, now the time has come when instead of increasing the closing time of liquor shops, a decision should be taken to completely ban liquor.

What did Minister of State for Home Jawahar Singh Bedam say?

On the other hand, when the state’s Minister of State for Home Jawahar Singh Bedam was questioned about this, instead of speaking on the extension of closing time of liquor shops and its ill effects, he made a political target on former CM Ashok Gehlot.

Minister Jawahar Singh Bedam said that Ashok Gehlot is isolated in his party, that is why he wants to remain in the headlines by making statements against BJP and its governments on social media. Rajasthan Law Minister Jogaram Patel was also seen trying to escape by giving evasive answers on this issue.
